Montiel Announces “Federal Election Integrity Act”

Houston, TX – Today, Carmen María Montiel, Republican candidate for Congress in Texas’s 38th District,
announced that she will introduce the Federal Election Integrity Act in the 120th Congress, legislation
designed to establish uniform national standards for elections involving Federal office and restore public
confidence in the electoral process.

The bill conditions Federal election funding on State compliance and requires voter identification issued
solely for voting, paper ballots for all Federal elections, and strict verification procedures at the polling
place, including a requirement for fingerprinting on the ballot. It designates Election Day as a Federal
holiday, requires all Federal votes to be cast on Election Day, and limits early voting for Federal offices.

The legislation also mandates continuous ballot counting, requires body worn cameras for election
officials and law enforcement during ballot handling and counting, and establishes criminal penalties for
violations that compromise election integrity.

“Free and fair elections depend on transparency, accountability, and trust,” said Montiel. “This bill ensures
that every lawful vote is protected, that elections are conducted in the open, and that Federal elections
follow clear and uniform rules nationwide.”

Montiel stated that the Federal Election Integrity Act will be among her first legislative priorities if elected
to represent TX-38 in the 120th Congress.
